Bring the kids and learn about our local history. Entrance is through the Spragpole restaurant and bar, so stop by and grab a drink, order some food and take a trip back in time. Museum is free but donations are always welcome. Check out the photo gallery below to see some of the items on display at the museum.
The community was named for George Murray, a mining prospector. Murray was one of several boisterous mining camps that became active in the late 1880s in Northern Idaho. Mines operated in the area from the 1880s to the 1950s. A Northern Pacific railroad line served the community for two years during the 1910s. A post office was established at Murray in 1884, and remained in operation until 1959. Our community is a special place with a special history! Where once famous lawman Wyatt Earp roamed, drank, gambled, and even ran his own White Elephant Saloon. Where the men, who helped shape our great nation had invested time and money to reap the rewards of the gold rush days.
